Economy: Qatar's Producer Price Index Falls 1.5%

Doha, September 27 (QNA) - The Qatari Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) said Monday that the Monthly Producer Price Index (PPI) of the Industrial sector for July 2016 declined 1.6% month-on-month and was down 26% year-on-year. Producer price index covers goods relating to "Mining" (weight: 72.7%), "Electricity & Water" (weight: 0.5%) and "Manufacturing" (weight: 26.8%). A statement released by the ministry to the press about the changing in each component. In mining, PPI for July of 2016 showed a decrease of 1.5% when compared with that of the previous month. This was mainly due to the decreased in prices of Crude petroleum and natural gas. Year-over-year, prices were down 31.1%. In manufacturing, A decrease of 1.8% was registered in July, 2016, when compared with the previous months Manufacturing index during this year. Compared to 2015, there was a decline of 15.7%. The PPI of electricity and water showed an increase of 1.4% compared to June 2016, resulting from the falling price seen in "Electricity" by 2.9% and rise in "Water" by 7.6%. Compared on a yearly basis, the PPI decreased 0.4%. Electricity's PPI fell 5.6% year-over-year. While water's PPI rose 7.2%. (QNA)
