Government agencies speed up reforms toward Thailand 4.0 policy

BANGKOK, September 29 (TNA) - Thai Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak has expressed his satisfaction with the growing national economic trend and ordered government agencies in his jurisdiction to accelerate their organizational reforms toward the Thailand 4.0 policy. While chairing a meeting with executives of the Ministry of Finance in Bangkok on September 28, Somkid, who oversees economic affairs, voiced the satisfaction, pointing out that the Thai government's economic stimulus measures so far have borne the good fruit seen in the recovering national economic trend with the country's gross domestic product (GDP) growth this year expected to reach the official target of 3.2 per cent year-on-year. Somkid said that the incumbent Thai government, thus, sees it unnecessary to introduce any new economic stimulus as the interim administration will leave the office after the new general election expected within the next one year. Somkid, instead, called for government agencies in his jurisdiction, including those in the Ministry of Finance, to proceed with their organizational reforms toward the Thailand 4.0 innovative policy to serve the public in more advance digital aspects. The deputy prime minister noted that Thai exports have also gradually expanded, suggesting as well a reform in the Thai industrial sector to enhance its competitiveness on the world market. The deputy premier raised as an example that Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) needs to implement its community-based initiative, called the one tambon, one agricultural small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) program, under which local farmers are supported in terms of both financial and technical assistance to develop their innovative and more value-added farm processed products and Internet-based marketing approaches where all parties in a community participate in order to earn more income for individuals and the entire community. The deputy prime minister also advised the Fiscal Policy Office (FPO) to work together with relevant agencies, including those in the Ministry of Labor, in its organizational reform, covering the further upgrade of its human resource development and research projects to support retired and senior citizens as Thailand is approaching the aging society. Besides. the State Enterprise Policy Office (SEPO) was urged to work together with Thai state enterprises for their reforms toward more organizational efficiency, based on the government's Thailand 4.0 policy, with suitable, competent and politically-independent executives and management boards to gear up their enterprises toward sustainable growth and development.
