OGA 2017 Aims To Draw 2,000 Companies

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 30 (Bernama) -- The Asian Oil, Gas & Petrochemical Engineering Exhibition 2017 (OGA 2017) is targeting to attract the participation of over 2,000 companies in the event to be held from July 11-13 next year. Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation Chief Executive Officer Dzulkifli Mahmud hoped there would be more Malaysian companies involved in the innovation and research and development of products and services in the industry, in line with Malaysia's aspirations to become the regional oil and gas hub by 2017. "We are strong in the services industry, and where there is a need for infrastructure, equipment and installation services to provide the technical and know-how, we can help to produce the output," he said when officiating at the soft launch of OGA 2017 here Friday. The biennial exhibition will be held in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre with the expected participation of companies from 60 countries, featuring 16 international pavilions and 23,000 trade visitors. The 16th edition of OGA 2017 will be the platform for exhibitors, trade visitors and delegates to converge and deliberate on the industry's challenges and opportunities. Meanwhile, organiser, Malaysian Exhibition Services Sdn Bhd General Manager Alun Jones said OGA 2015 recorded business transactions of about US$181.07 million (RM750 million). "For OGA 2017, we expect to achieve the same figure despite the current climate. "The oil price can change a lot between now and July next year and we will always try to set the bar high," Jones said. -- BERNAMA
