Shaikh Khalid Graduation Projects Award's second edition to be launched

Manama, Oct. 2 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth & Sports,President of Bahrain Athletics Association, instructed to start preparations for the launching of the second edition of the Khalid bin Hamad Award for Graduation Projects Forum. It is aimed at Bahrain-based universities including all disciplines of engineering and information technology. Scheduled to commence in December, the event is organised by the University of Bahrain and is part of HH's initiatives to support Bahraini youth. HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa affirmed that this award translates HM the King's instructions of supporting Bahraini youth in all fields, especially in education, as this will help improve the quality of university graduates who play a key role in the continuing development of our nation. "The wise leadership has been keen in embracing the youth as they are the driving force of the development process in the Kingdom. This is part of the leadership's belief in the major role of the youth in building the future of Bahrain, as they are a key component of the reform programme launched by HM the King," HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa noted. He further stressed the need of keeping pace with the rapid developments happening at the international level in education. "Our main goal from this award is to give our youth the opportunity in scientific innovation and contribute in having a new generation of youth equipped with advanced education possessing the ability to continue building our beloved country," HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa stated, adding "This award will give us a chance to change traditional definitions in education, encourage innovation and support young Bahraini innovators the field of education." HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa also lauded the efforts of the University of Bahrain and its President Dr. Riyadh Hamza in organising the award, wishing all the participants success. About Khalid bin Hamad Award for Graduation Projects: As part of the generous initiatives of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth & Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association, the Khalid bin Hamad Award for Graduation Projects, organized by the University of Bahrain has commenced within the University’s campus. This prestigious award aims on supporting university students financially and morally by exhibiting their graduation projects every year. It also focuses on encouraging students to submit their innovations and scientific applications based on knowledge gained through their educational experiences in the fields of engineering and information technology. In addition, the award works on documenting the relationship between the university graduates and the labour market. Under the generous directives of His Highness, this award has been extended to provide a fair opportunity to all university students in the Kingdom. The second edition of the award this year invites all Bahraini universities. In addition to that, His Highness has given instructions to invite large number of national, regional and international companies to invest in the awards activities by showcasing their own products and leading ideas, and also exhibiting the latest scientific advancements in the engineering and information technology fields of the projects. Vision: To support the development of projects and scientific research of graduating students, in order to deliver leading and innovative services for the community. Message: The pursuit of making financial and moral support available for university students through exhibiting leading and innovative graduation projects, which will contribute to providing solutions in the fields of industry and business and at the same time, increase productivity along with a surge in the services provided to the community. Objectives: · To shed light on the ideas and projects offered from university students and to introduce them to society. · To provide financial support from business investors and entrepreneurs for the university students. · Provide a chance for the university students to take a look at the global experiences and obstacles within the fields of engineering and information technology. · Develop and encourage the spirit of competitiveness, innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship. · Introduce Labour market opportunities to the students for the purpose of recruitment. · Aim for development and scientific research that will help lead to the production of innovative scientific applications. · Market the students’ innovative and leading graduating projects in the national, regional and global markets.
