Private school warned for violations

Manama, Oct. 3 (BNA): A delegation from the Ministry of Education has paid a visit to the private International School of Choueifat to verify the accuracy of social media reports regarding its teaching of a social studies book without the permission of the Ministry. The delegation found out that the school had actually used the book in question to teach social studies in English for ninth grade students without taking the necessary procedures to have the book accredited by the competent authorities at the Education Ministry. The book also contained topics that conflict with Bahrain's general policies, which constitutes a clear breach of the provisions of Decree-Law 25/1998 on private educational and training institutions. The Education Ministry then submitted an official warning to the International School of Choueifa, requesting it to withdraw copies of the book immediately and present lists confirming the completion of the process. The school was also requested to provide an alternative book and seek the Ministry's official approval. The school was urged not to repeat the violation to avoid penal measures included in Decree-Law on private educational and training institutions.
