Police commitment to public security stressed

Manama, Oct. 3 (BNA): The Chief of Public Security, Major-General Tariq Al Hassan stressed the policemen’s commitment to carrying out their duties to protect security, public order and safety.
In this context, he said that police coordinate with those in-charge of Ashoora rituals to prevent the exploitation of the occasion and to ensure the safety of all.
He stated that misusing the occasion to engage in criminal activity will not be allowed. He said those in charge of the events should make sure to keep the religious aspect of Ashoora the focus of the activities.
The Chief said the Interior Ministry respects all religious occasions, including Ashoora, and will provide professional security services. He said police have already taken legal steps against a number of individuals who were dealt with in accordance with the law.
He said there are certain well-known locations where it is acceptable to place flags and slogans. Police will deal in accordance with the law any violations in this regards.
The Chief said that models placed in areas that hinder traffic, and political slogans, flags and photos that have nothing to do with Ashoora were removed from public roads and private property. (Police Media Centre).
