Malaysian PM Najib Joins Olympians, Paralympians To Watch F1 Race In Sepang Sunday

SEPANG (Selangor, Malaysia), Oct 4 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Najib Razak joined National athletes who competed in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics and Paralympics at the Sepang International Circuit to watch the Pertronas Malaysian Formula One Grand Prix here, Sunday. Najib (right), accompanied by International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed and Sepang International Circuit chief executive officer Razlan Razali later joined thousands of F1 fans to sing the National anthem. Athletes who joined the Prime Minister at the track were Malaysian diver Pandelela Rinong, Nur Dhabitah Sabri, cyclists Mohd Azizulhasni Awang and Fatehah Mustapa plus Paralympians Muhammad Ziyad Zolkefli, Mohamad Ridzuan Puzi, Abdul Latif Romly and Siti Noor Radiah Ismail. The Prime Minister later presented the trophy to the winner of the Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix, Daniel Ricciardo from Red Bull Racing. The Australian clocked one hour 37 minutes 12.776 seconds to win the 56-lap race ahead of team mate Max Verstappen from the Netherlands (1'37:15.219s). Championship leader Nico Rosberg from Germany, representing Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team finished third with a time of 1'37:41.561s (photoBERNAMA). -- BERNAMA
