Premier calls for state-of-the-art, advanced media sector

Manama, Oct. 4 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa stressed today the importance for official media to be technically advanced to deal with the quantum development of international media and project Bahrain's political, economic and human rights achievements.
HRH the Premier made the remarks as he chaired today a work meeting to get updated on the development schemes of the official media institution. He listened to a briefing by Information Affairs Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al Romaihi on the Information Ministry's development initiatives in the television, radio and news fields as well as the efforts exerted to groom national competencies.
HRH the Prime Minister urged to adopt initiatives to bring about quality development of TV and radio programmes in light of the climate of freedom and transparency promoted by Bahrain under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He directed to cater for all needs required to upgrade the official media institution and enable it to keep abreast of regional and international telecommunication progress. He said the political, democratic, human rights and development momentum in Bahrain needs dynamic media capable of projecting professionally this development to the whole world.
HRH the Premier urged to optimise development and training programmes for national competencies working in the official media field, describing the national media staff as the real asset of the media institution. He voiced confidence in the national media competencies to play a bigger role in national work, praising the Information Minister's wealth of experience and capability to steer the official media institution to more progress and development.
The Information Minister commended HRH the Premier's support to the media sector and the Information Affairs Ministry, reiterating the ministry's pledge to carry on with its development plans.
