Bahrain Farmers’ Market to open on December 3

Manama, Oct. 4 (BNA): The 5th edition of Bahrain Farmers’ Market will open on December 3 and run until April 27. The Agriculture and Marine Resources is holding the annual event at the Budaiya Gardens, in coordination with the National Initiative for Agricultural Development. This year’s edition is expected to attract several local agricultural companies along with outstanding Bahraini farmers to display their produce. A series of workshops will be held on the sidelines of the annual market to update the exhibitors on latest agricultural techniques. Undersecretary for Agriculture and Marine Resources Shaikh Khalifa bin Isa Al-Khalifa underscored the importance of the annual event which, he described, as a catalyst for the local agricultural sector. “Since the first edition, the ministry has embraced the vision of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King, to establish a market for Bahraini farmers”, he said. In a statement on this occasion, he underlined the striking success of the market since its inception four years ago, adding that other GCC countries have adopted the concept to encourage their national agricultural production. Registration started last week and will continue until the 20th of October. Twenty-eight exhibitors have so far registered, thus confirming their participation.
