Three Indonesian Staff Working In Malaysian Embassy Receive PPN

JAKARTA, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- Three Indonesian staff at the Malaysian Embassy in Indonesia Thursday received the Order of the Defender of the Realm (Pingat Pangkuan Negara or PPN) in conjunction with Malaysian King, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah's birthday last June. Three are Said Mulyono (postal clerk), Syariel Manday (driver) and Mamat Rahmat (security guard). The awards were presented by Malaysian ambassador to Indonesia Zahrain Mohamed Hashim during a special ceremony held at the Embassy in Jalan Rasuna Said, here. Said Mulyono, 56, who had retired in August after serving in the Embassy form 33 years when met at the ceremony said he was both honoured and excited to receive the award from the King of Malaysia. "This is beyond my expectations, I had never dreamt of such an award. This shows that the Malaysian government sincerely appreciated our services although we are from another country," he said. He also thanked the Malaysian government for giving him an opportunity to serve the Embassy because he was able to educate his four children through his employment. "Two of my four children are studying in the University and that was possible because I had worked in the Embassy for more than 30 years," he said. Driver Syariel said he had never expected to receive such a highly acclaimed award from the King in recognition of his services although he had always discharged his duties with dedication and integrity. "This is beyond my wildest dream. I have worked hard all these years and this is just reward," he said. Meanwhile, Zahrain when met said it was the first time the award from King was bestowed to foreigners working in the Malaysian Embassy. "Such awards can enhance the bilateral relationship between Malaysia and Indonesia and boost the working spirit in the Embassy," he said. The Most Esteemed Order of the Defender of the Realm (Darjah Yang Mulia Pangkuan Negara) is a Malaysian federal award presented for meritorious service to the country. -- BERNAMA
