Minister receives GPIC board of directors

Manama, Oct. 6 (BNA): Oil Minister and National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) Chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa received Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) Board of Directors Chairman, Dr. Ahmed Al Sharyan, Board Members and the Company’s President, Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery. The minister said GPIC had maintained a competitive edge amidst the rapid changes taking place in the industry, praising the Board and the Management for the success of Company operations. During the meeting, the Chairman and the President briefed the minister about the latest developments at the Company in terms of production and operations during the last year and the excellent results it had achieved. The minister was also told about the proposed expansion, product diversification and development opportunities both within and outside Bahrain. The Company's future plans and projects, to be implemented in the coming months with the support of the Government of Bahrain, were also discussed. These projects would further strengthen co-operation between the GCC countries. The meeting also reviewed the Company's latest achievements and awards it had won locally, regionally and globally. The minister praised the Board of Directors for their efforts in developing the oil, gas and petrochemicals sector as well as the economies of partner countries, and said GPIC is a successful joint venture between Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Dr. Al Sharyan thanked the minister for the meeting and said it came as part of the strong cooperation between NOGA and GPIC. The Chairman expressed his happiness at the minister’s influential role in supporting GPIC’s projects and operations and said the Government of Bahrain was keen on providing an excellent environment for business and a suitable climate suitable for investment, which had prompted many international companies to set up their own projects. Dr. Jawahery praised the positive results of the meeting and said it had reinforced co-operation between NOGA and GPIC for the benefit of both sides. He thanked the minister for his interest in following up on the Company's business and project development. He said GPIC was today a leading Company in the field of industrial diversification of Bahrain's economy and would continue to play an active role in realizing the vision of Bahrain’s 2030 Economic Vision in the field of human, social, economic and environmental development, and by establishing a self-sufficient economy dependent on knowledge, culture and education. He said GPIC would always strive to enable its Bahraini workforce to acquire expertise in the operation of large industrial projects.
