Asean–EU Dialogue Relations To Be Discussed At AEMM In Bangkok

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), Oct 13 (Bernama) -- Future direction of the ASEAN–EU Dialogue Relations are among matters to be discussed at the 21st ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meeting (AEMM) in Bangkok, Thailand as the two entities are working towards elevating the partnership to a strategic level. Wisma Putra (Malaysia's Foreign Ministry) in a statement said the two-day meeting, which began today (Oct 13), was also held to prepare for the commemoration of the 40th Anniversary of ASEAN-EU in 2017. Foreign Minister Anifah Aman is leading the Malaysian delegation to the meeting. Wisma Putra said the meeting was expected to deliver two outcome documents namely the "Bangkok Declaration on Promoting a People-Oriented, People-Centred ASEAN-EU Partnership for Shared Strategic Goals" and "Bangkok Roadmap for Elevating the ASEAN-EU Enhanced Partnership to a Strategic Level (2016-2017)". "The meeting will also provide the opportunity for both sides to exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual concern," it said. Wisma Putra said Anifah was expected to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from the EU member states on the sidelines of the 21st AEMM to discuss issues of common interest. --BERNAMA
