Infor To Bring Product Management Expertise To Malaysia
GEORGE TOWN (Penang, Malaysia), Oct 13 (Bernama) -- Infor, Inc., a US-based global enterprise software company, will be bringing its expertise in product management in several sectors in Malaysia.
Country Director, Nazeroll Kasim, said the company had held talks with the state governments and local councils to manage public spaces such as parks and stadiums, as well as, improve infrastructure.
"We are still discussing and everything is in the preliminary stage. We have laid out our ideas and we hope to get some positive outcome," he told a press conference here Thursday.
Infor has wide experience in managing infrastructure such as the New York Metro and local councils in Australia, and has recently struck a deal with a local council in Gold Coast, Australia, to work on the council system using its software-based application.
Its Vice-President for South Asia, ASEAN and Pacific, Helen Masters said this was the new era of technology and it could increase productivity, as well as, improve budget efficiency.
"This is the era of new technology and everyone should explore especially on social media platforms as it is faster, easier and user-friendly," she said.
She also said that with the rapid development in the e-commerce industry, the logistics market was the next big thing to explore.
"People nowadays prefer to purchase items online as it is more convenient. When items are purchased online, it would have to be sent through a carrier in order for the items to reach the buyers (location)," she said.
Citing an example, she said Lazada, a popular online shopping site which operates in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam, had recorded more than US$1 billion in annualised gross merchandise value last year, and most of its customers currently shops from its mobile application.
"This trend has contributed largely to the increase in demand in the logistics market as the people and items move simultaneously," she said.
