Works Ministry receives Saudi delegation

Manama, Oct. 14 (BNA): Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning has received a delegation from the Saudi Development Fund (SDF).
The delegation, led by Chief Engineer Abdullah Mohammad Al-Shoaibi, is visiting the kingdom to follow up on the progress of the implementation of the projects carried out by the Works Ministry in the health, education and sanitation fields and are funded by the SDF within the GCC Development Programme.
The Ministry’s Works Undersecretary, Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Khayat, expressed deep pride for the existing cooperation with SDF to speed up the implementation of development projects in the kingdom, which, he said, embodies the strong brotherly relations between the leaderships and peoples.
During the official meetings held with SDF officials, in the presence of the relevant parties at the Health Ministry, Finance Ministry and the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry, the work progress in the SDF-funded health, education and sanitary projects was reviewed. The meeting stressed the need to expedite the implementation process for the best interests of Bahraini citizens.
Projects funded by SDF for the Health Ministry include the $37- million Long-Stay Care Centre in Muharraq, and the $21-million Dialysis Center in Riffa, Al-Khat said.
Regarding the education projects, Al-Khayat said that the SDF is funding the building of six schools across the kingdom’s governorates at a cost of $ 85 million. They include the Busaiteen Intermediate School for Girls, the first phase of the Isa Town Primary School for Boys, the Hunainiya Secondary School for Boys, the Hamad Town Intermediate School for Boys, the Malkiya Intermediate School for Girls and the Jaw School for Girls.
Concerning sewage projects, he said that the SDF is funding the fourth phase of the Toubli Wastewater Treatment Station, in collaboration with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.
