Security measures prepared for Thanaleng - Nongkhai railway link
(KPL) The officials of Laos and Thailand have agreed on shared responsibilities for controlling goods smuggling and drug trafficking, said Head of Nongkhai Police Railway Station last week.
“Thanaleng – Nongkhai railway link is beneficial to the Lao and Thai people in terms of communication, trade and investment,” said Police Mayor Chodjin Kangkijkarn.
He said Thai officials had prepared security measures, especially to deal with illegal workers, goods smuggling and drugs trafficking in cooperation with the Lao officials.
When the railway link was officially opened passengers could have their documents checked either at the immigration office in Thai side at the bridge or the Nongkhai Railway Station.
Thai officials have prepared police canines and x-ray machines for ensuring the checking of relevant officials.
