Bahrain boasts legislative branch with broad powers'

Manama, Oct. 15 (BNA): Shura Council Chairman, Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh, said that many issues related the citizens’ daily life and living conditions will be given top priority during the next session of the current legislative term, which will commence on Sunday. He explained that the general state budget for the two fiscal years 2017-2018 and many draft laws referred to the council will top the agenda of the Shura Council, in line with its keenness on contributing to efforts to preserving the kingdom’s resources and gains, on the one hand, and upgrading the services delivered to the citizens, on the other. In a statement to Bahrain News Agency (BNA), Al-Saleh said that the whole region, including Bahrain, is going through extraordinary economic conditions that require all branches to cooperate and coordinate among themselves, as well as work with the public in order to address them, especially regarding the decline of oil prices and ways to find additional financing sources to increase GDP. Commenting on the kingdom’s parliamentary progress, he said that the term “Parliamentary Experience” is no longer relevant as Bahrain today boasts a legislative branch with broad powers that enable it to assume its role easily and comfortably, in close cooperation with the other branches. He also highlighted the tremendous efforts exerted by Shura Council members to achieve progress for the nation and prosperity for the citizens.
