HM King thanked for amending NIHR law

Manama, Oct. 20 (BNA): The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) Board of Commissioners held its fifth extraordinary meeting under the chairmanship of its President Dr. Abdulaziz Hassan Abul. Discussions focused on Decree-Law number 20 for 2016, which was issued recently, regarding amendment of some provisions of law 26 of 2014 on the establishment of NIHR. The council extended thanks and respect to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for the pioneering step which turned the institution's law into a model to emulate. The meeting spotlighted amendments to the institution's law in response to remarks by the sub-committee of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI). The Board of Commissioners commended support of the constitutional authorities and relevant parties to NIHR to grant it more prerogatives to further promote human rights in Bahrain.
