Housing Minister meets Anna Tibaijuka

Quito, Oct. 21 (BNA): Housing Minister Bassim bin Yaqoob Al-Hamer met in Quito, Ecuador, Anna Kajumulo Tibaijuka, the former Minister of Lands, Housing and Human Settlements, Tanzania, former UN- Under Secretary-General of the United Nations and Former Executive Director, UN-Habitat and Director-General of the United Nations Office at Nairobi. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 3rd UN-Habitat conference. The Housing Minister reiterated congratulations to Anna Tibaijuka on receiving Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Award for Sustainable Development in tribute to her pioneering efforts to promote practices of countries towards achieving the development goals through the United Nations Human Settlements Programme. He also praised the role of the award which, he said, reflects keenness of HRH the Premier to enhance competitiveness to achieve the best in sustainable development. He also underscored the pivotal role of HRH the Prime Minister in backing the international efforts to bolster sustainable development and improve people's welfare.
