Bahrain marks World Energy Day

Manama, Oct. 22 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain has joined the international community in marking the “World Energy Day”, observed annually on October 22. The World Energy Day aims to raise awareness on the importance of energy and its crucial role in our daily life, as well as positive impacts on developing peoples economically and socially, and on ensuring their well-being. It was proclaimed during the World Energy Forum 2012 in Dubai, UAE. On the occasion, the Standardization and Metrology Directorate at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism highlighted the importance of technical specifications and regulations in supporting efforts to conserve energy and rationalise its consumption. The directorate seeks to activate control programmes that enhance energy conservation, and promote consumption rationalisation. It also raises awareness on the need to preserve energy.
