Malaysia Confident Of Beating India
KUANTAN (Pahang, Malaysia), Oct 26 (Bernama) -- Malaysia, riding on a wave of success in the Asian Champions Trophy are optimistic of turning the tables favourites India at the Kuantan Hockey Stadium here, on Wednesday.
Head coach Stephen Van Huizen said the team had been preparing well to face India as the match was important to improve the country's position in the world ranking list.
"India are ranked higher than Malaysia. We have therefore been working on a strategy to face the threat from the Indians. We respect India because they are a strong outfit with a good structure but I believe we have the capability to walk out with a positive result," he told reporters here Tuesday.
Stephen said he was glad that his boys had two days' rest and able to recover well.
India head coach Roelant Oltmans meanwhile, regards Malaysia as a team with the calibre to excel and expects an exciting match on Wednesday.
"I view this match very seriously because we need to do something to win. Just that I do not want to focus too much Malaysia alone because we will also be playing against China," he said.
India are currently ranked sixth in the world ranking compared with 14th placed Malaysia.
