Malaysia Closes Chapter In French Open Badminton 2016

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's badminton hopefuls in the French Open 2016 failed to advance to the quarter finals after losing their respective matches in the second round at Stade Pierre de Coubertin, Paris. National men's singles player Zulfadli Zulkiffli who managed to stave off his challengers in the qualifying matches could not keep up the performance, losing to South Korea's Son Wan Ho. The former World Junior Singles champion was overwhelmed 15-21, 14-21 by his more experienced opponent who is ranked world sixth, in 44 minutes. Meanwhile, national second mixed doubles pair, Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing who are ranked world 14th, put up a good fight and dragged their match 20-22, 21-14 against second seeded Praveen Jordan-Debby Susanto from Indonesia.
