Malaysia Wins Third Place Of Asian Champions Trophy

KUANTAN (Pahang, Malaysia), Oct 31 (Bernama) -- Malaysia won third place of the Asian Champions Trophy 2016 after beating South Korea 3-1 via penalties at Kuantan Hockey Stadium here, Sunday. Both teams were tied 1-1 at the end of regulation time. South Korea had to settle for fourth place in 10-day tournament. Malaysia's three goals were scored by Firhan Ashari, Faizal Saari and Nabil Noor while Kang Moonkyu scored South Korea's lone goal. Earlier, Malaysia took the lead when Shahril Saabah scored a field goal in the 14th minute. South Korea equalised just three minutes when their skipper, Jung Manjae scored from a penalty corner. After the break, both Malaysia and South Korea tried to break the deadlock but the 1-1 score remained until the final whistle. -- BERNAMA
