SOJC: Malaysia Cold Streak Continues, Losing 1-4 To Pakistan

JOHOR BAHRU (Johor, Malaysia), Nov 3 (Bernama) -- The national junior hockey team's cold streak continues as they lost 1-4 to Pakistan in the third match of the Sultan of Johor Cup (SOJC) 2016 tournament at the Taman Daya Hockey Stadium here Wednesday night. Pakistan scored their first goal as early as the 7th minute through a penalty corner shot by Abu Mahmood before team captain Muhammad Dilber netted the second goal in the 20th minute. Malaysia's squad closed the gap through a penalty stroke by Muhammad Najmi Farizal Jazlan in the 25th minute, but the joy lasted only five minutes as Pakistan scored another goal, contributed by Shah Irshad, before the end of the first half. In the second half, Malaysia's defence continued to weaken and opened more room for Ullah Sami to score the fourth goal for Pakistan in the 45th minute. Malaysia will play against Japan in the fourth match, scheduled for 8.30 pm Friday. -- BERNAMA
