AFC president to attend cup final in Doha

12 : 03 AM - 05/11/2016 Doha, Nov. 4 (BNA): Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa will attend the AFC Cup final match between Air Force Club of Iraq and India's JSW Bengaluru FC at the Suheim bin Hamad Stadium (Qatar Sports Club) on Saturday. AFC President expressed hope that the match would showcase high-level competition, bring excitement to Asian football fans, and reflect the abilities and determination of Asian clubs. Shaikh Salman stressed that the two clubs deserved their places in the final following their impressive results throughout the campaign, noting that the two teams have the capabilities to produce a captivating finale, as they attempt to be the first clubs in their respective countries to win the title. He also noted that this year’s final carried additional importance with the new increase in prize money, as part of the AFC’s efforts to boost the competition. AFC President stressed that regardless of the winner, the biggest aspirations for this year’s final were to reflect Asian football’s principles of fair play and the passionate support for the game. He confirmed that all necessary preparations for the AFC Cup final had been finalised by the AFC, expressing his appreciation to the Qatar Football Association for their support in hosting the final in Doha.
