Malaysia To Meet Thailand In Semis Of Suhandinata Cup

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 5 (Bernama)-- Malaysia's junior badminton squad continued their smashing performance by advancing to the semifinals of the World Junior Mixed Teams Badminton Championship, better known as the Suhandinata Cup, which is being held at Bilbao Arena, Bilbao, Spain. In Friday's action, the national junior side defeated Indonesia 3-1 in the quarterfinals to set up a last four meeting against Thailand later Saturday. Thailand earned a hard-fought 3-2 win over India in another quarterfinals tie. In the match against Indonesia, Malaysia were trailing after Ooi Zi Heng/ Pearly Tan Koong Le lost to Rinov Rivaldy/Apriani Rahayu; 21-18, 14-21 and 14-21 in the mixed doubles, according to the tournament's website;www.bilbao2016.badminton.es. Lee Zii Jia then levelled for Malaysia by edging Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo;21-15 and 21-11 in the boys singles before reigning world junior champion, Goh Jin Wei doubled the lead by dislodging Gregoria Mariska;21-15 and 21-14 in the girls singles.
