Bahraini Women's conference recommendations hailed
Manama, Nov. 6 (BNA): The patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), of the Third National Conference for Women represents the peak of the leadership's belief in the ability of Bahraini women to take the initiative and be effective partners in the national action march, legal and judicial personnel said.
They asserted that the recommendations of the conference are realistic solutions to the issues of Bahraini women and families.
In statements to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) following their participation in the Third National Conference for Bahraini Women, they said that the conference's discussions had touched uponthe aspirations of Bahraini women for a brighter and more prosperous future.
They affirmed that the recommendations made by the participants include a well-thought study of the present needs, as well as visions for the future, and therefore can be considered as well-focused guidelines that support the efforts of the legal, judicial, legislative, executive authorities, and the civil society to strengthen the principles of the state of law and institutions.
President of the High Civil Court and Judge at the High Civil Court of Appeals, Judge Amal Ahmed Abul, highlighted the importance of removing the procedures that may sometimes impede the implementations of the legal principles related women empowerment.
She called for the speedy implementation of legislation and laws, stressing the role of the Legislative Branch, NGOs, and the media in activating the pending laws.
Dr. Waleed Al-Masry, the Legal Advisor at the SCW and Law professor at the UoB's College of Law, said that among the responsibilities of the SCW is to submit proposals and recommendations to amend legislations related women and the family in general.
He stressed that laws and legislations, once passed, should be followed by executive bills to be activated and implemented, noting that the issue of pending laws, particularly the law on protecting women from domestic violence, the disabled care law and the Family Law, were the focal point of the second day of the conference.
President of the sixth High Court of Appeals, Judge Ibrahim bin Sultan Al-Zayed, indicated that the three-day conference had covered the real situation of Bahraini women regarding the challenges facing them and equal opportunities between men and women, adding that the work papers presented the real image of Bahraini women in the legal and judicial field, as well as the obstacles facing their access to leadership position in the sector.
Al-Zayed praised the outstanding organisation of the conference by the SCW's Secretariat-General.
Director of Legislation and the Official Gazette at the Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission, Chancellor Mohammed Mijbal, said that the Third National Conference for Bahraini Women crowns the achievements and the efforts exerted by the SCW over the past 15 years in serving Bahraini women and empowering them in various fields.
He added that the recommendations submitted by the conferees to the competent authorities would be useful in amending existing laws and enacting new ones related to the status of Bahraini women.
Deputy President of the LLOC and the SCW member, Chancellor Massouma Abdul-Rasool asserted that the Bahraini women's status in the legal and judicial field has been boosted since the launch of HM the King's Reform Project.
He added that the conference had called for fast-tracking the issuance of the second part of the Family Law.
Chief Prosecutor at Military Prosecution of the BDF's Military Judiciary, Captain Eman Tariq Al-Jowdar, highlighted the success of Bahraini women jurists in reaching leadership positions at the military judiciary thanks to the leadership's constant support.
Member of the Advisory Board of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), lawyer Rabab Al-Arayyadh, emphasised the importance of the role played by the private sector in developing society, not only in the economic field, but also in other equally important ones.
In this regard, she stressed the role that can be played by the private sector in improving the quality if legal and social services delivered to women.
