Appeals Court rules in case involving six terror blasts

Manama, Nov. 8 (BNA): Deputy Prosecutor of Terror Crime Prosecution , Khalid Al Tameemi, said the High Court of Appeal today ruled in the case of attempted murder, illegal possession and use of explosives to undermine people lives and assets, deliberate arson and acts of sabotage in implementation of terrorist purposes, forgery, rioting, illegal gathering, possession and use of incendiary devices. The court ruled by accepting the appeal in form regarding seven suspects. The court also ruled by accepting the appeal in form by amending the penalty to fifteen years' incarceration and rejection of the appeal in subject regarding five suspects but otherwise upheld the appealed verdict. The High Criminal Court had earlier sentenced thethe first to the twelfth suspects, each to a life in jail term, confiscation of the materials seized in their possession, stripping of their citizenship, and one year in jail for the thirteenth and fourteenth suspects and deportation of both of them from the Kingdom of Bahrain after serving their respective jail term. The suspects had caused six terror blasts targeting public security men in al-Qurayyah in the Northern Governorate in 2013 and 2014. The suspects had been arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution after explosives in their possession had been seized. All suspects had been referred to the High Criminal Court. The court deliberated in the case, listened to prosecution and defence arguments. The Public Prosecution demanded maximum penalty against the suspects. The court issued its aforesaid sentence. Today, the High Court of Appeal issued its above ruling.
