Putin’s visit to APEC summit arranged, no plans for separate meeting with Obama - Kremlin

SOCHI, November 16. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Peru to attend the APEC summit scheduled for November 19-20 is arranged but a separate meeting with US president Barack Obama at the summit is not planned, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.
"The trip is being readied," Peskov said, noting he was speaking about a trip to Lima after being asked whether Putin would visit third countries during the trip.
Russia’s president holds bilateral talks with other countries’ heads of state and government at international summits. Nonetheless, Peskov answered ‘no’ to a reporter’s question about a possible talk with Obama.
"A separate meeting has not been discussed yet," he said. "But evidently, they are going to somehow meet up on the margins of the summit."
Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is an international forum bringing together 21 leading economies of the world for cooperation on trade and economic development of the region. Creating the system of free and open trade and a liberal investment regime in the Asia-Pacific region has been declared the main task for APEC until the year 2020.
Russia and the US also take part in APEC’s activity. Russian officials, participating in APEC summits, use this opportunity to meet not only for general discussion, but to also meet with counterparts from other countries.
