Nakilat Assumes Full Management, Operation of LNG Carrier Umm Slal

Doha, November 23 (QNA) - LNG transport company Nakilat has assumed full ship management and operations of Q-Max LNG carrier Umm Slal from Shell Trading and Shipping Company (STASCo) as of Wednesday as part of the planned and phased transition announced on October 19, Nakilat said in a press release. Umm Slal is the third Q-Max vessel that will come under the management of Nakilat this year, bringing the total number of vessels the company manages to 11, comprising 7 LNG and 4 LPG carriers. With a cargo carrying capacity of 265,978 cubic meters, Umm Slal is wholly-owned by Nakilat and chartered by Qatargas. The vessel, built in South Korea by Samsung Heavy Industries, was delivered in November 2008 and has been in service ever since. Nakilat is a Qatari LNG transport company providing an essential transportation link in Qatar's LNG supply chain. Its LNG shipping fleet is the largest in the world, comprising 63 LNG vessels. It owns and manages four large LPG carriers and operates the ship repair and construction facilities at Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard in Ras Laffan Industrial City. It also offers a full range of marine support services to vessels operating in Qatari waters. (QNA)
