Bahrain's achievements in TIMSS praised

Manama, Nov. 30 (BNA): Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Educational and Training Development Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa hailed Bahrain’s honourable Arab and international achievement in Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) 2015. He affirmed that the accomplishment is a quantum change in education in Bahrain and underlines success of the initiatives of the National Project for Educational and Training Development. The Deputy Premier was speaking as he received at Gudaibiya Palace today Education Minister Dr. Majid Al Nuaimi and TIMSS 2015 Tests National Coordinator Dr. Huda Al Awadhi. He said Bahrain’s clinching of the first place at the Arab level in the fourth primary sciences test, the second place in the second intermediate sciences test and the fourth primary and second intermediate maths test as well as achieving the highest development rate in the maths test at the international level is an incentive to attain all goals. It is to note that Bahrain’s highest international development rate in the results of the maths test brought Bahrain up from the fifth place to the second place at the Arab level and from the 34th place to the 25th at the international one. The Deputy Premier also praised Bahrain’s success to grab first place internationally in TIMSS Numeracy 2015 test which is carried out for the first time with the participation of eight countries. He congratulated the Education Minister, Dr. Al Awadhi and all the Education Ministry staff on the honourable accomplishment, wishing them more success.
