HRH Princess Sabeeka patronises women’s day

Manama, Dec. 1 (BNA): Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) patronized today the Bahraini Women's Day 2016 celebration which was held in the Constitutional Court building in Manama under the slogan "Women in the Legal and Justice Field. She stressed that celebrating the Bahraini Women's Day on December 1 derives its glitter from coinciding with the kingdom's national celebrations. She said the event has become a national occasion and a source of pride for all Bahrainis as it sheds light on Bahraini women's achievements and contributions at all levels. HRH Princess Sabeeka thanked the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Judicial Council, the Public Prosecution, the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry, the Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission and all affiliates as well as the civil society institutions for their efforts to ensure Bahraini Women's Day 2016 attain its forecast goals. HRH Princess Sabeeka affirmed keenness of the legal institutions to boost the status of their female employees in order to encourage women to go ahead with proving their worth and capability in this field. She also added that the strong presence of Bahraini women in the justice and legal institutions is a source of pride, congratulating the women working in this field on their outstanding achievements. In recognition of their efforts and substantial contribution to the justice and legal field, HRH Princess Sabeeka honoured the first generation of legal graduates and lawyers alongside the first women who took up posts in the judicial and decision-making field at the local and international level. She also honoured female legal employees who contributed to organizing the Bahraini Women's Day celebrations and promoting the legal culture as well as Heads of legal and justice institutions in Bahrain. President of the Constitutional Court Shaikh Khalifa bin Rashid Al-Khalifa Thanked HRH Princess Sabeeka for SCW's choice to pay tribute to Bahraini women working in the legal and justice field and hold the celebration of the Bahraini Women's Day 2016 at the Constitutional Court. He pointed out that HM the King's inauguration of the court premises in April 2005 is a landmark event in the history of Bahraini judiciary as the court represents the legal bulwark of people's rights. Supreme Judicial Council Chairman, Court of Cassation President Salim bin Mohammed Al-Kawari hailed Bahraini women’s strides ever since His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa embarked on the reform project. He commended the laudable contribution of women practising legal profession as members of the High National Committee which was set up and tasked to draft the National Action Charter. He highlighted Bahraini women’s legal and judicial credentials, describing them as an important and deserving partner in the march of development and progress in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He cited the high-profile positions held by Bahraini women, whether as United Nations (UN) National Assembly President, Constitutional Court judge, High Court of Appeals judge, puisne judge, advocate general, prosecutors or legal advisors. A documentary filmed titled “Women in Judicial and Legal Field” was shown, shedding light on success stories which reflect the outstanding educational strides in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Constitutional Court President Shaikh Khalifa bin Rashid bin Al-Khalifa presented her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) with a commemorative gift.
