Bahrain to mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Manama, Dec.2 (BNA): Bahrain will tomorrow – Saturday – join the other nations in celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities which falls December 3. The celebration reflects the care which the Government provides to the vulnerable social category of people with disabilities in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa. Launched by the United Nations (UN) in 1992, the annual international observance day is being celebrated around the world this year under the theme: Achieving 17 Goals for the Future We Want. Bahrain hosted a high-level Arab forum on sustainable development in May 2015 under the auspices of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa. The pan-Arab symposium then yielded a key declaration dubbed “Manama Document”, whose recommendations were taken into account when setting the 17 Sustainable Development Goals during the UN General Assembly meetings in September 2015.
