Information Minister congratulates award laureate

Manama, Dec. 2 (BNA): Information Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al Romaihi congratulated Bahraini media figure and writer Sawsen Al-Shaer on being granted the Community Awareness Award during the second edition of the annual Arab Women Awards held in the British capital, London, under the patronage of London Mayor in cooperation with London and Partners foundation and Regent's University London. The Information Minister asserted that the prestigious international award, which coincides with the kingdom's celebrations of Bahraini Women's Day, is a culmination of Al-Shaer's efforts in the press and media field. He added that the honour also reflects the value of Bahraini women as an effective partner in Bahrain's sustainable and comprehensive development in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He also noted that the award is an international acknowledgment of the key role of the Bahraini media in raising awareness of the importance of holding on to national values, cooperation and tolerance among all social components. He added, it is also a global recognition of the role of the media in Bahrain in preserving national security and stability as well as defending the kingdom's development and civilisational accomplishments by placing the national interest above any political, sectarian or ideological considerations. The Information Minister described Bahrain as an oasis for media and cultural creativity thanks to the royal reform project which set a climate of unprecedented freedoms to stimulate the creativity of national competencies and better serve the nation.
