Bahraini Women's Book Fair inaugurated

Manama, Dec. 5 (BNA): Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), deputized SCW Deputy President Dr. Shaikha Mariam bint Hassan Al Khalifa to inaugurate the Bahraini Women's Book Fair which is organized by Isa Cultural Centre till December 12 as part of the kingdom's celebrations of the Bahraini Women's Day. Dr. Shaikha Mariam toured the fair which showcased more than 600 books and around 800 university theses (300 in Arabic and 500 in English) covering various fields. The fair also featured the first book by a Bahraini woman which was written in 1973 by Dr. Amal Al Zayani on Bahrain from 1783 to 1973. The SCW Deputy President praised the initiative of Isa Cultural Centre in spotlighting a rich intellectual march by Bahraini women, describing such events as an opportunity to highlight cultural and intellectual development in Bahrain.
