Maybank Islamic Wins Two Awards At WIBC Performance Awards Ceremony

From Zairina Zainudin MANAMA (Bahrain), Dec 7 (Bernama) -- Maybank Islamic Bhd won the award for the Best Performing Islamic Banks for the South East Asia category at the World Islamic Banking Conference (WIBC) Performance Awards. The bank, the largest Islamic banking player in the Asia Pacific region and a Maybank (Malaysia's largest financial services group) subsidiary, as well as the region's fourth largest by assets, also bagged the Country Award category at the event. Kuwait-based Islamic Bank Boubyan Bank emerged the Best Performing Islamic Bank in the World category. Awards were presented by the Central Bank of Bahrain Governor, Rasheed Mohammed Al Maraj, during the WIBC Gala Dinner here on Tuesday. The WIBC Performance Awards, the flagship awards for the WIBC, were awarded to the top financial institutions based on their aggregate performance scores against multiple measures on a global, regional and country level. Each financial institution received an aggregate score based on weighted scores of three metrics, namely, financial stability, financial performance, and governance and social responsibility. Award recipients who made it to the top 15 at the global level, top five at the regional level and top five at the country level, are nominated. --BERNAMA
