Malaysia's Chuping Valley Lures Investors From China, Japan and South Korea

KANGAR (Perlis, Malaysia), Dec 8 (Bernama) -- Giant corporations in China's automotive industry are among the foreign investors keen on investing in Chuping Valley of Malaysia's northernmost state, Perlis. Menteri Besar (Chief Minister) Azlan Man said this followed the state government's collaboration with Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) and a visit to China recently. "Go Auto Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, the assembler of Great Wall cars is keen on investing in Chuping. "Great Wall, which is China's largest car manufacturer, has an assembling plant in Gurun, Kedah (Malaysia's northern state). "Local company, Syarikat PIP Sempadan Utara Sdn Bhd is keen on building an inland port on a 500 acres site," he said in reply to a question in Perlis State Assembly, here Wednesday. Azlan said the Energy Commission called for bidding for a solar project and six companies were keen to invest in Chuping Valley. "The chosen company will be given a piece of land according to the megawatt capacity in line with the approval gven by the Energy Commission." The menteri besar said many companies from Japan and South Korea were keen on investing in Perlis. --BERNAMA
