Tajikistan Keen On Seed Technology Collaboration With Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 10 (Bernama) -- Tajiskistan is keen to collaborate with Malaysia on seed technology, where both nations could look at the possibility of producing a third product by the 'marriage' of seeds originated from Malaysia and Tajikistan.
Tajikistan Ambassador to Malaysia, Muhammadi Muzaffar Munawalzod, said a fruit that is common to both countries already exists, albeit with a slightly
different taste and look.
"Persimmon, as it is known here, could be the start of our technology collaboration where we can produce a new hybrid from both seeds (with
Tajikistan's fruit) that will be profitable to both nations and other countries too.
"Malaysia's agriculture industry has really developed and we can collaborate in many ways, and seed technology could be the first collaboration programme by our two countries," he said in a statement released by the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism (MAHA) secretariat today.
Muhammadi Muzaffar, together with the High Commissioners of Australia and Bangladesh and the Ambassador of Iran had made courtesy calls on Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek in conjunction with the on-going #MAHA2016.
They discussed bilateral co-operation to strengthen their respective countries' relations with Malaysia, especially in the agriculture sector.
Themed Our Food Our Future, #MAHA2016 is where all the nation's best agriculture products and materials are being displayed at the Malaysia Agro
Exposition Park, Serdang (MAEPS) for 11 days until tomorrow.
