ENVIRONMENT TOURISM RALLY TO OBSERVE PRESS DAY

Denpasar, Jan 27 (ANTARA) - In welcoming press day and the 63rd anniversary of the Indonesian Journalists Association, an environment tourism rally would be held around Denpasar city to Badung and Gianyar districts, Bali.

The event would be jointly held by the local administration and the Bali Chapter of the Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI), Chairman of the Bali Chapter of the Indonesian Journalists Association Djesna Winada, said here Tuesday.

The auto rally to promote city tourism which cares for the environment was expected to be participated in by 105 rallyists is scheduled on February 22, 2009.

Djesna expected the event which would draw the interest of young people can also be a means to call on motorists to further abide by traffic regulations.
Bali Hipmi's general chairman Nyoman Seniweca, ST, said that at least 100 participants including those from Java and Lombok have registered themselves.

"The event would invite many devoted people, because it is not only an auto rally, but also a picnic that focuses on efforts to conserve the environment and promote traffic regulations," he said.

Each participant is challenged to seek routes according to the map covering 100 kilometers in 5-6 hours with an evaluation on driving skills according to the public road traffic regulations.

Denpasar Mayor Rai Dharmawijaya supported the event and would prepare trophies for the winners. The activity would be held to celebrate the Denpasar administration's anniversary on February 27, 2009.
