Xonbouly to use 1,900 ha for dry season

(KPL) Xonbouly district, Savannakhet province in 2009 dry season has planned to use 2,200 ha for rice plantation.
Mr. Bounlet Chanhthongthip, head of agriculture and forestry office of Xonbouly district, said, “ In order to achieve the plan, the district agriculture and forestry office has closely worked with the provincial irrigation sector to repair the damaged irrigation systems ensuring the dry season agriculture of farmers.”
The district was also given 164 million kip from the province to reinstall two water pumps. So far, the district has completed rice transplantation on 660 ha, representing 30% of the district’s plan.
In addition, the district has prepared 200 ha for cash crops plantation including 15ha for maize, 45 ha for peanut, 10 ha for tobacco, 13ha for eggplant, 5 ha for water melon, 13 ha for cotton and 45 ha for other crops.
