Oil minister visits GPIC stand

Manama, Dec.18 (BNA): Minister of Oil Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa opened the Fourth Maintenance and Reliability Conference at the Gulf International Convention and Exhibition Centre on December 12. The event was organised by the Gulf Society of Maintenance Professionals and the Bahrain Society of Engineers with the support of the Global Forum for Maintenance and Asset Management and the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA). The minister visited the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) stand at the exhibition after the opening ceremony, where he was received by company Chairman Dr. Ahmed Al Sharyan; President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery and members of the Executive Management. The Minister was briefed on GPIC operations, its high quality products exported to the world’s largest markets, its achievements in the field of health, safety, community service and the environment and winning several awards locally, regionally and globally. The Minister expressed his admiration at the Company operations and for its outstanding contributions in the industrial field as well as its contributions towards society. He also applauded GPIC’s participation in the exhibition and said it had enriched the event sue to its expertise in the specialist field of work. Dr. Jawahery thanked the Minister for the visit and for his praise of the Company’s achievements and community role. He stressed that such praise and encouragement motivates the employees to perform better. Dr. Jawahery said the Middle East is a key region for crude exports and is a leading trading centre for oil. He pointed out that oil firms understand the risks and take action, which contributes to their success. He also spoke about the efforts made by oil companies to find effective and meaningful solutions to improve management and storage as well as comply with health, safety and the environmental issues. The event will be held in Bahrain every two years and would present an opportunity for Gulf and international companies to learn about the requirements of the industrial companies in the region and get acquainted with the latest research and technologies in the field. It will also be an opportunity for all those working in the field of maintenance for investment opportunities and to exchange experiences and success stories.
