Bahrain's democratic strides hailed

Manama, Feb. 5(BNA): Bahrain has achieved landmark democratic gains, ever since the National Action was endorsed by a sweeping 98.4% of the votes sixteen years ago. Information Affairs Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al-Romaihi hailed the pioneering democratic process, stressing Bahrain's respect of human rights, political, cultural, religious and media liberties. Receiving Assistant-Foreign Minister Abdulla bin Faisal bin Jabr Al-Dosary, he underlined Bahrain's strides in consolidating the modern constitutional monarch and enforcing the rule of the law. During the meeting which was attended by Acting Communication director Dr. Arwa Hassan, Al-Romaihi discussed cooperation with the Foreign Ministry and its affiliated overseas' diplomatic missions. He underscored the importance of opening to foreign media and intellectual institutions, so as to project Bahrain's democratic, human rights and development strides in Bahrain and debunk disinformation campaigns and media distortion. He highlighted Bahrain's presentation of its 3rd National Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Report on Human Rights to the United Nations Human Rights Council and the Geneva-based Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights OHCRH. The step, he said, reflects Bahrain's respect of human rights, political, civic, cultural and social rights and reveals the Kingdom's transparency in honouring its voluntary obligations, in compliance with the constitution, national legislations and international human standards. The minister stressed Bahrain's keenness on striking the balance between respect of human rights and the enforcement of the law in combating extremism and acts of violence and terrorism. Al-Dosary expressed thanks to the minister for his cooperation and keenness on mustering all national media capabilities to reveal to the world Bahrain's democratic and human rights strides, in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and his wise Government.
