Minister of Economy and Commerce Reviews Relations with Brazil, Philippines

Doha, February 16 (QNA) - HE Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani met Thursday with Mayor of Brazil's Sao Paulo, Joao Doria and his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations and discussed aspects of joint cooperation and means to develop them especially in the fields of economy, trade and investment. Qatar and Brazil share a number of trade agreements signed in 2010 in Brasilia including a trade and economic cooperation agreement; agreement on the establishment of a cooperation committee between the two governments. The trade volume between both countries reached almost QR 4 billion in 2015; placing Brazil as Qatar's 18th trade partner. HE the Minister also met with the Director General of Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Charito Plaza and her accompanying delegation. During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations and discussed aspects of joint cooperation and means to develop them especially in the fields of economy, trade and investment. In 1997, Qatar and Philippines signed a trade, economic and technical cooperation agreement. The Philippines is the 26th trade partner to Qatar and bilateral Trade volume between the two countries amounted to QR 2.1 billion in 2015. (QNA)
