MILE 2017 to Showcase Integrated Islamic Lifestyle
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 21 (Bernama) -- The inaugural Malaysia International Islamic Lifestyle (MILE 2017) set for April 5-8 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre will feature 150 companies.
Organised in conjunction with the 14th Malaysia International Halal Showcase, MILE 2017 marks another milestone for Malaysia in the development of the halal industry and Islamic economy, it is expected to draw more than 30,000 visitors.
Bringing together culture and trade in an integrated experience of Islamic lifestyle, MILE 2017 broadens its remit beyond the food sector, said MILE in a statement here, Tuesday.
It would highlight seven key components, namely Modest Fashion; Muslim Travel and Hospitality; Islamic Education and Literature; Islamic Arts and Décor; IT and Multimedia; Jewellery and Ornaments; and Social and Community Development.
MILE said the Muslim population is expected to grow to 2.2 billion by 2030 with 29 per cent being youths.
It said it was time for Malaysia to step up development and promotion of the halal industry by addressing the needs of Muslim millennials in travel, education, fashion, arts, entertainment and technology.
The halal industry is considered to be of high potential, but yet to be fully explored, said MILE.
Themed 'Embrace Modesty in Living', the event would showcase the integration of Modest Fashion Show by the Bumiputera Designers Association and Islamic entertainment at LIVE STAGE@MILE, highlighting Islamic-oriented entertainment.
