Engineering Professions Exhibition inaugurated

Manama, Feb. 27 (BNA): Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi inaugurated today the 7th edition of the Engineering Professions Exhibition which is organised by Bahrain Society of Engineers (BSE) in its premises in Juffair. Many public and private institutions are taking part in the two-day event, alongside the University of Bahrain (UoB), to familiarize students from secondary schools with information about 13 engineering disciplines and update them on the experiences of higher education students and employees in this field. The Education Minister lauded the positive role of the exhibition in assisting students in planning for their professional future by learning about the engineering specialisations required by the labour market and their appropriateness to their skills. He praised the Education Ministry's efforts to develop technical and vocational education by creating the "apprenticeship" system in the secondary stage. The minister pointed out cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) in developing technical and vocational curricula. He also underlined the influential role of the Excellence Centre at Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Institute of Technology in providing specialized vocational training at the local and regional level.
