Assistant foreign minister holds meetings in Geneva

Geneva, Feb. 28 (BNA): Assistant Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Faisal bin Jabr Al Dossari met Parliamentary Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs (Minister for Asia and the Pacific) in the United Kingdom, Alok Sharma.
During the meeting on the sidelines of the 34th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva, Al Dossari hailed the outstanding historical relations between Bahrain and the United Kingdom and affirmed keenness on moving with them to broader prospects.
Sharma lauded the increasingly-growing bilateral ties in various fields and affirmed wish to push for their consolidation towards more cooperation and the coordination of stances between the two friendly countries.
Al Dossari also met the Humanitarian Envoy of the UN Secretary General Dr. Ahmed Meraikhi and congratulated him on his appointment to the current post. He praised the broad expertise and contributions of the Humanitarian Envoy of the UN Secretary General in the diplomatic, humanitarian and development fields, wishing him success.
Dr. Meraikhi valued the human rights achievements of Bahrain on the occasion of its submission of the third Universal Periodic Review (UPR3) to the United Nations Human Rights Council. He lauded the amount of efforts the kingdom of Bahrain has put into the preparation of its all-encompassing UPR3 which outlines the important human rights progress taking place in the country.
The Assistant Foreign Minister held a meeting with Wayne McCook, the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Jamaica, during which he praised bilateral ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Jamaica and voiced desire to further boost them.
McCook expressed his country’s interest in boosting its ties with the Kingdom of Bahrain in all areas including human rights, praising the tremendous progress Bahrain is making in this respect.
Al Dossari also met Alexandros N. Zenon, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, and commended cooperation ties between the two friendly countries, expressing desire to further consolidate them.
Zenon lauded the milestone progress taking place in the Kingdom of Bahrain in various domains and voiced his country’s interest to boost bilateral cooperation ties for the benefit of both friendly countries and peoples.
