Qatar Chamber Holds Workshop on Taxation in the UK

Doha, March 06 (QNA) - Qatar Chamber, the UK Department of International Trade, and UK Commercial Attache in Qatar organized a workshop on taxation, and incentives offered to foreign investors. The workshop focused on the taxation system in the UK for both personal and commercial investment. It also discussed property tax and the steps to establish commercial projects in the UK. Member of Qatar Chamber Mohammed Mahdi Al Ahbabi said that taxation plays a key role in the process of attracting investment. He praised Qatar's tax system and said it helped attract investment, especially with the stable and secure business environment. Al Ahbabi added that the workshop aimed to highlighting the taxation changes in the UK after Brexit. The workshop also came ahead of the Qatar Business and Investment Forum, which will take place on March 27-28. The event will take place in London and Birmingham. The workshop also gains its prominence due to the strength of ties between the UK and Qatar. Taxes in the UK are among the lowest in the G-20 at 20 percent. There are plans to lower it to 17 percent by 2020. (QNA)
