Bahrain's rich artistic movement praised

Manama, Mar. 6 (BNA): Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), received today organisers and sponsors of Art Bahrain Across Borders (ArtBAB) 2017 fair. She welcomed the audience comprising dignitaries, artists, owners of art houses and members of the fair's international committee. HRH Princess Sabeeka pointed out success of the first edition of the exhibition last year which brought together 43 exhibitors from 17 countries. She underlined Bahrain's richness in artistic talents and long history of creativity, describing ArtBAB as an ideal platform for every Bahraini artist to bring out his artistic talent and exchange experiences with other artists from all over the world. HRH Princess Sabeeka directed to utilize modern technology in drawing and arts so as to attract youngsters and educational institutions and boost their contribution to a promising future. She lauded support of public and private institutions to the exhibition, stressing the role of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) in sponsoring this year's event. She also pointed out success of the previous edition, affirming that this partnership shows the civilisational image of Bahrain as a regional art hub. Tamkeen Board Chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa presented a briefing on Tamkeen's support to the fair and the artistic movement in Bahrain, being a key stimulator of economic and social growth. Meanwhile, Interior Ministry Undersecretary for Nationality and Passport Affairs Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Honorary President of Bahrain Fine Art Society, praised the leadership's support to the artistic movement in Bahrain, pointing out the growing number of Bahraini artists and their outstanding works. He also stressed the society's pledge to continue supporting artists and tapping on their talents. ArtBAB 2017 is set to be held from March 22 to 26 at Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre with the participation of international artists and 36 Bahraini ones. Key sponsors are Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority, the Economic Development Board, Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, Gulf Air Company, Batelco and Bahrain Airport Company.
