NIHR hails women's strides

Manama, Mar. 8(BNA): A national watchdog hailed Bahraini women's strides in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa. The National Institute for Human Rights (NIHR) paid tribute to Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) for her support. In a statement marking International Women's Day (IWD), it commented the SCW-led efforts to launch programmes and strategies that promote the status of women and protect their rights. The watchdog hailed the dedicated efforts led by the Government to promote women's civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights. It reiterated its drive, since its inception in accordance with Paris principles, to promote women's issues as part of efforts to develop and protect human rights, disseminate awareness and spearhead adequate legislations to promote women and consolidate their rights.
