FOUR INDONESIANS IN ALP-ORGANIZED POLITICAL WORKSHOP

Brisbane, Australia, Feb 3 (ANTARA) - Four Indonesians are taking part in a workshop on political, electoral and strategic governance issues being held by the Austalian Labor Party (ALP) at Sydney University's campus February 2 to 6, 2009.

The four Indonesians are H Agus Setiawan, a preacher of the Indonesian Muslim community in Australia, a special adviser at the Regional Representatives Council (DPD), and two special advisers at the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta.

Agus Setiawan said the workshop was being attended by more than 20 people from countries in Asia Pacific, namely Malaysia, Vietnam, South Korea, Cambodia, and Papua New Guinea. The event itself, he said, was intended to increase the quality of political advisers and their suggestions on governmental management and the management of political campaigns.

During the workshop, he said, all participants were instructed on ways to build public opinion, strategic governmental issues, and election analysis by ALP members.

The workshop participants were also taken on a tour of some New South Wales governmental offices and the parliament.

"The activity is expected to build a network of cooperation between political advisers across Asia Pacific countries," Setiawan said.
