Arab group participates in HRH Princess Global Award launch

Manama, Mar. 14 (BNA): Mervat Tallawy the Director-General of the Arab Women Organisation has participated in official launch of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa's Global Award for Women Empowerment.
The award's launch ceremony was held at the United Nations headquarters in New York on the side-lines of the UN Women Status Commission's 61st meeting held on March 13-17.
The award was launched following its great success at the national level in the Kingdom of Bahrain over the past ten years of conferring the award on private and public establishments as well as individuals.
The award aims to promote the advancement of women and to showcase the significance of countries' and organisations' compliance through their legislative, executive and civil society bodies in promoting the policy of non-discrimination against women, achievement of equal opportunity between women and men, highlighting the institutional, collective and individual efforts, initiatives and projects geared towards the inclusion of women's requirements in sustainable development and help create positive change in the status of women to a more stable and productive living.
Towards the conclusion of the award launch ceremony Ambassador Mervat Tallawy met Bahrain's Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa in the presence of Maya Morsy the Chairperson of Egypt's National Council for Women, Morocco's representative in the Organisation's executive board Minister for Women and Family Security and Social Development Baseema El Haqqawi, and Ambassador Layla Bahaa El Deen, to discuss the Arab Group's supporting the work of the Organization.
